photoshop tutorial - corner cut-out (easy)

This tutorial is for photoshop. I use photoshop cs4, but this tutorial is extremely simple and can be applied to any version of photoshop!

First off, you are going to need this template. (save it to your computer and open it up in photoshop)

Assuming your sign is already made, you are now ready to cut out the corner. First, get your 'magic wand' tool ready.(you can also just hit the w key :))

Next, resize the template so that is it the same size as your sign. ( image -> image size)

Now that your template and sign are the same size, and you have your magic wand ready, all you have to do it click the white corner of the template. it will select.

Then, edit->copy.

Go to your sign and go to edit->paste

Move it until its in the corner and then you are done!

If you want your cut out corner in a different corner (not the top right one) all you have to do is click on the corner layer (the one you just pasted) and go to edit->transform->and either flip horizontal, vertical, clockwise, etc until you're happy.

Now, right click on the corner layer and go to blending options

check 'pattern overlay' and select the pattern that you want inside of the corner

then check 'stroke' and stroke it with either a color, gradient, or pattern. i usually stroke my corners with scanlines at 1px or just white at 2px
