photoshop tutorial :) i am using ps cs4 but theyre all pretty similiar. this is a relatively short tutorial and its not very difficult :) enjoy!
in this tutorial i am going to teach you how to do "preppy" text :)
1) pick your font and type it out as you want it.
i am going to be using the font pea captivatingly. you can download all of the
pea fonts at
www.kevinandamanda.com.
i made the font size 50 and i bolded it. i also kerned it to -75.

2) now its time to add the gradient onto your text! right click on the text layer in the layers pallette. a list will come up and one of the choices will be "blending options". open that up!
go to 'gradient overlay'. there is a box and a circle thing labeled "angle". its already set to 90 - change that to zero.
3) now double click on the bar that has the gradient in it. it looks like this:
![]()
now make your gradient. i started with the color 06496a ; and ended with the color a5dcdd
4) now that your gradient is done you're going to
want to stroke it with 3 px white.
*if you're practicing this on a plain
white document, you wont be able to see the white stroke just yet since its
white on white :)*
5) now youre done with the blending options for this layer. so press okay and the blending options window will close.
6) now get your magic wand tool (or press w) & select your text. the inside (gradient part) will be selected. dont deselect it.
7) now you're going to want to make a new layer.
do that by pressing ctrl + shift + n
name the layer diagonals.
now you're going to need this brush. open it and go to edit -> define brush preset
8) on your new layer, get the diagonal brush tool you just saved. make sure your foreground color is white. the brush is very large so it is able to cover your entire text - so put the brush on top of your text.
9) obviously thats a little bright - so you're going to want to change the opacity of that layer to 45%. you can now deselect this.
10) now you're going to want to merge your diagonal layer with your text layer. do this by selecting both layers and then pressing ctrl + e
11) right click the newly merged layer and open the blending options window.
12) go to stroke. set it to 2px gradient. once again set the angle degree to 0. right click the gradient box again and make the exact same gradient you did as before. (starting with the color 06496a ; and ending with the color a5dcdd)
13) now you're going to want to add a drop shadow. click the drop shadow box at the very top of the blending options window and match your settings to mine. feel free to play around with these settings as much as youd like.

now press okay to exit the blending options window, and you're done!
this is my final result.
